Starting October 1, 2025, European countries will move from hourly electricity pricing to 15-minute pricing. More precise pricing helps the electricity market respond faster to changes in consumption and production as more renewable energy sources are integrated into the grid.
At Kapacity.io, we have prepared for this change to ensure a smooth transition for all heat pump owners.
Variable price electricity contract? Check your settings
Log in to Kapacity.io Cloud and make sure your electricity contract settings match your situation:
If you have a 15-minute electricity contract and your electricity meter supports 15-minute measurement
→ Switch the contract settings to the 15-minute tariff (see the guide image below).
If you have a 15-minute electricity contract but use an older 1-hour electricity meter
→ Keep the settings at the 1-hour price (see the guide image below).
If you don’t update the settings, Kapacity.io control will, by default, continue using the 1-hour spot price for variable price electricity contracts.
Fixed price electricity contract?
With a fixed price electricity contract, there’s no need to check your settings — control will continue as before.
You can update your settings at any time if your electricity contract changes or your electricity meter is upgraded.
Is the 15-minute price a safe choice for my heat pump?
Heat pumps are precise devices that must be controlled within the limits set by the manufacturer’s guidelines. Kapacity.io always prioritises equipment safety and home comfort, and takes manufacturer instructions into account in all control actions. Kapacity.io always follows the manufacturer’s guidelines, and your heat pump will be operated within its designed limits — whether you choose fixed pricing, 15-minute pricing or hourly pricing.
